Make Do and Mend, Profile of Hannah Lamb, Spaces 2008

Given that she began a ‘serious’ collection of buttons from the age of nine, it would be fair to say that Hannah Lamb found her vocation somewhat early in life.

Hannah was born and grew up in a village in Buckinghamshire and comes from a family that was always very thrifty and resourceful.

“My mother made most of my clothes when I was a child, and she also did a lot of crafts. I grew up surrounded by fabrics, pins and scissors. We were always taken to lots of museums and stately homes during our summer holidays, and I think perhaps that is where my fascination with old objects began. We lived in a brand-new house, so old things were exciting and unusual to me.”…
