Citing a passion for India, regular visits to Stately homes, shopping in Shanghai and her beloved London as paramount influences, Tamara Salman’s colourful home reflects an equally colourful character.
“Our hallway is the colour of a peeled red onion skin. To re-create that on the walls we painted yellow first then a dark red satin on top to give it depth.”
Tamara’s career as creative-director for Liberty and foundations in Italian fashion houses Romeo Gigli and Prada means she uses colour with confidence. Her experience is echoed in the bold hues and textile inspired patterns in her home.
Hands-on with decorating Tamara painted the stripes on the hand dyed curtains in the living room herself “I wanted striped curtains but not the classic normal proper stripes more wobbly hand done looking.”
She advises not to be afraid of colour “I think the key is to think you don’t have to live with it forever. Get a load of test pots and paint them and see the effect in different lights and avoid flat colour when its’ a bright colour, washes and textures work best.”…
