Anyone who can make a living out of selling wooden moustaches and pork chop pillows is a genius in our book! So Ben Floeter and Natalie Wright’s somewhat eccentric approach to business, combined with a dash of Mid-Western glamour, has left us rather impressed.
Ben Floeter and Natalie Wright were born in 1977, 300 miles apart from each other (Ben in Wisconsin and Natalie in Illinois). Ben’s earliest creative outlet was improving his hand-me down toys, giving his broken G.I. Joes and StormTroopershand-carvedprosthetics, while Natalie’s early artistic inspiration came from drives through the country with her father, who would pull over and explain perspective by having her draw the barns on the flat Illinois landscape.
To describe what the pair do for a living is truly an envy-inducing task. Ben and Natalie simply “make things” – turning their hand to anything that takes their fancy. Their ever-evolving collection includes parcels of wooden bricks, covetable carved whales, charming yo-yos (each one rigorously tested by Ben himself ), Natalie’s meat pillows and my personal favourite, handmade moustache keyring holders…
